The Eaglesnout Academy

"Strength to serve. Heart to protect."

A Dream Realized

When Kei Eaglesnout left the party in Session 11, it wasn't to rest. It was to build something that would outlast any single adventure: a school for those who would defend the innocent when no one else could.

The Eaglesnout Academy stands on the rebuilt foundations of Kei's family farm—the same land that raiders once burned, now transformed into training grounds for future guardians.

What They're Teaching

  • Combat Fundamentals — Kei's championship fighting techniques, adapted for defenders rather than glory-seekers
  • Tactical Awareness — Reading a battlefield, protecting allies, knowing when to hold and when to strike
  • The Guardian's Code — Strength means nothing without purpose; power must serve those who cannot protect themselves
  • Arm Wrestling — Kei insists this builds character (and he's undefeated against the students)

The First Class

The academy's inaugural students include orphans from Phandalin, survivors of bandit raids, and young people who saw the party's heroics and wanted to learn to do the same. Kei trains them personally, using the lessons he learned fighting alongside the party.

"Every one of you has lost something. That loss made you strong enough to walk through those gates. Now we turn that strength into something that protects others."

— Kei Eaglesnout, addressing new students

A Visitor at the Forest Edge

In recent weeks, the students have reported an unusual sight: a creature appearing at the tree line near the training grounds. Slightly larger than a raccoon, with lighter-colored fur, it watches the students train but never approaches. Some say it seems to approve.

Kei has instructed the students to leave food out for it. "Some guardians," he told them, "protect from the shadows. Respect that."

The creature has not been identified. It comes and goes as it pleases.

The Tartan Legacy

Each graduate of the Eaglesnout Academy will receive a piece of clan tartan—deep forest green crossed with threads of gold and crimson. The same pattern Kei gave to his former companions before departing.

The tartan carries more than symbolism. Those who wear it carry a piece of Kei's strength forward.
