The Captured Circle Airship

A smaller, faster vessel than the Stormlight — originally painted with the tilted-eye sigil of the Slanted Circle, now in the party’s possession as of the Session 11 sky battle.

Description

The ship’s hull was painted in the Circle’s iconography when captured — the tilted-eye sigil, slanted runes, the same aesthetic the cultists have shown across the campaign. Smaller in profile than the Stormlight, with tighter rigging and a leaner draft. Built for speed and ambush rather than endurance hauling.

She was damaged but not destroyed when captured — Circle agents had been thrown overboard or cut down, the rigging burnt through in places, the deck scarred. Tallow’s parting line at the close of Session 11:

“Well, I suppose you’ll be needing a second ship for future adventures.”

Status

  • Captured intact in Session 11
  • Currently unnamed — the party has not yet christened her
  • Currently uncaptained — there is no one piloting her on long voyages, and her sigils have not yet been repainted
  • Damage status — repairs underway/partial; cosmetic Circle markings still visible

Open Threads

The ship is, at the moment, a capability waiting to be claimed. Several open questions hang on her:

  • Captain. No one in the party has the bandwidth to run her full-time, and Tallow already commands the Stormlight. A captain will need to be found, hired, or chosen from among allies.
  • Name. The Circle’s name for her has not been recovered. The party will likely christen her with their own.
  • Crew. The original Circle crew is dead or thrown overboard. A loyal crew has not been assembled.
  • Passengers. Her deck is large enough to comfortably hold an eighteen-foot passenger, should one ever decide to come aboard. (See Chainbound Colossus.)

Tactical Value

Two airships rather than one expands the party’s strategic reach significantly:

  • One ship can hold a position while the other scouts
  • Distributed regulators across continents (per the Slanted Circle’s known operations) become reachable in parallel
  • The Astralglades and Xen’Drik can be monitored without committing all party assets to one location

Whether the party uses her this way, or differently, depends on what they decide she is for.
